The Adversaries

I love this series. There's so much rich historical detail, but at the same time the author manages to keep your attention thru each long book. This one tells how the family is torn apart by the Civil War that is raging between the states. The family is sent all ways and have to find a way to survive the war together. A few tear jurker moments through out the book.

The Adversaries by Jack Cavanaugh | LibraryThing

I'm particularly attracted to the Civil War era and so all aspects of it are of interest. This book, though fiction, does contain some real historical events and people.

A Cluttered Life: Middle-Class Abundance

The families depicted are struggling Christians which made the story more interesting. It was interesting to me to get a feeling for what it must have been like for Christians to suffer through this war and what the preaching must have been like. Engaging story that keeps you reading - along with some surprises. This book is part of a series, but the reader does not need to read the previous books to enjoy the story.

Historical Fiction Literature Study Guide – The Adversaries

Every bit as good as the previous three books. All the books in this series are exciting. They combine a very fast pace story of fictional characters with real historical figures and events. This author is a favorite of mine. Thanks for all your effort in getting books for us. Thanks so much for the prompt delivery! We have really enjoyed these historical novels. I haven't had a chance to read this book yet, but I loved the rest of his series.

Once again the author captures historical insight of the day. I look forward to every on of his books and am always uplifted and proud of the history we have as Christians living in this great nation.

Reading soon became one of my favorite things to do, followed by a strong desire to study history. As an adult, while homeschooling my six children, I found the need to create worksheets in an effort to give my children extra help in the areas in which they struggled. This practice carried over to working with troubled kids in my community and through my church.

I began creating study guides or practice worksheets the students could use to help them reach their educational goals. My role has changed over the years, from home school mom of six to grandmother.
